Both Kellogg Peak (6,297 feet) and Wardner Peak (6,205 feet) are accessible for winter skiing and summer mountain biking. The north-facing slopes have a 2,197-foot vertical drop. The area has 7 lifts, 67 named trails, and an average annual snowfall of 300 inches. The lift-served bike park is award-winning. Before having the name Silver Mountain, the resort had two previous identities. It was first known as Jackass Ski Bowl from 1968-1973. This name was in honor of Noah Kellogg's borrowed ore-discovering donkey from 1885. It then changed names in 1973 and was re-named Silverhorn Ski. It was named after the Silberhorn in the Bernese Alps. From 1989 until now, thanks to the Silver Valley's rich history of mining, it is named Silver Mountain Resort. Learn more about the resort here.
Silver Mountain Resort holds a few records:
1. Silver Rapids Indoor Waterpark is Idaho's largest indoor waterpark.
2. North America's Longest Single-Stage Gondola ascends to Silver Mountain's ski area.
